Regulations & Policies

The Essex Regional Retirement System (ERRS) operates under the requirements of Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 32.  ERRS may also from time to time adopt supplementary regulations governing its operations. Supplementary Regulations must be approved by the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC), the state oversight agency for the public retirement system.  In some instances, the Board may approve a policy which is submitted to PERAC for later approval as a supplemental regulation.

Below are the supplemental regulations adopted by the Board of the retirement system and which have been approved by PERAC.

In January of 2019, the Board approved a Supplemental Regulation Guide Book.  This guide book provides a summary history and an explanation of how the supplemental regulations affect members of the retirement system.  Please click on the Supplemental Regulation Guide Book link below to learn more about how the regulations of the retirement system are applied.

In addition, ERRS may also adopt policies that guide it in managing its day-to-day operations. Below you will also find the most recent version of the Policy and Procedures Booklet.
