Your pension contribution rates are made through payroll deduction pre-tax. The rates are different based on the date you became a member of the Essex Regional Retirement System, which is generally the same day you were hired.

• Entered into the ERRB system before 1975: 5%
• Entered into the ERRB system between 1975 - 1983: 7%
• Entered into the ERRB system between 1984 - June 30, 1996: 8%
• Entered into the ERRB system from July 1, 1996 to the present: 9%

Additionally, if you entered into the ERRB system anytime since January 1, 1979 you also must contribute 2% of your annual pensionable income earned over $30,000.
